Up until last year, when he was 14, my son would take an action figure into the tub with him. He would try to sneak them back out, so his younger sister wouldn't find out- she would have teased him terribly if she'd found out. He thinks he's definitely too big now.
I say just let them decide for themselves, they'll know.
