A few questions

Hi all, as you can see i'm new here.

We recently decided to have a baby,it will not be lovies first, but it will be mine so i have alot of questions.
I'm using a fertility calender, can someone tell me if there was ever any sucess or is it just a waste of time???

Gosh!I really wish i could just be pregnant already!

I was wondering (i know this sounds silly) does teething come before speech or does it depend on the babies development??
Is breast feeding healthier than giving bottle??

Chantelle: breastfeeding is 1000% healthier than bottle feeding. And easier too. There are so many reasons to breast feed that I couldn't list them all here.

Teething usually comes first. Both my kids got their first teeth before 6 months, speech starts late in the first year.

I don't know about the calendar. I have used the sympto-thermal method (temp tracking) with great success.

Breast feeding is way better than bottle, it does build a bond between you and your baby and I think it's heathier too.

Babies begin to make sounds early but they don't normally make recognized words until after their teeth comes in.

No knowledge of fertility calender.

The calender can help but I wouldn't rely on it totally-throw in some spontaneity too and you should be fine. Doesn't mean you will catch right away-I think that something like six months is the average.

Breast is best, there can be no debate. It helps you lose weight too, and has other health benefits for mom.

If you are just tracking days before and after your period, it's not the most reliable. Pick up a digital thermometer and track your first morning temp, which is called a basal temp, that is a more accurate way to look for ovulation than just watching the calendar.

And breastfeed - breast is best!!!

I don't know about the calendar either. When we are wanting to conceive we just do the deed every other day, and I'm pregnant in a month or two.

And I'm another staunch breastfeeding advocate. There can be no debate, in my mind.

Congratulations on being ready to take this big step!

Breast feeding advocate here as well. I would say get a book about it or go to a class your local hospital offers. The class was a huge help to me. Also, you may have a La Leche Leauge near you and they are a wealth of information and support.

Yes,

Knowing a doctor I really have to say that breastfeeding is very important. You know all about the nutrients that it contains especially the first few days after it's born. Congratulations on the big step aswell!

I guess I'll be the odd girl here, lol. I bottle fed all three of mine and would do it again if I had another baby. My babies were all very healthy. I'm not against others breast feeding, just wasn't what I wanted to do.
