Had twin girls almost a decade ago and almost died during childbirth. There were no real reasons other than she was having twins from what the doctors said. I thought medical issues like this were slim now with all the tech. out there in the world?

I would say that either the doctor didn't tell her the real reason or she didn't hear the real reason. I cannot imagine that just having twins would be a reason to nearly die. Now if there were some other factor it might be a complication when having twins. Was it during birth or during the pregnancy in general that she nearly died?

It was probably like Mommy2Five said. Technology has come a long ways when dealing with childbirth. However, this is sometimes still a dangerous time for women, though chances of death due to complications are slim, it does still happen. I can't say that I know of anyone who has died from giving birth, though.
