Allergy testing
Have any of you been through allergy testing with your kids? My 12 month old is reacting to something. I'm frankly worried that it's celiac. He's so constipated all the time, despite prune and pear juice and all the water he will drink, lots of fruits and veggies offered (but not always eaten). I'm thinking we're going to start by taking him to a naturopath and starting with energy testing, but we'll also do the blood test.

Have you tried to remove any gluten from his diet? You could find out then if it is celiacs. I have a friend with it and she just found out her daughter has it too. That's what she did. When the gluten was gone, the symptoms decreased a lot. It did take about a month though for it to become noticable after the gluten was gone.

I was tested at about 4yrs old. It sucked majorly. As an adult I know it was for the best (or something like that) but nothing in the world could convince me at that age that randomly adding/removing/restricting things I ate and doing the grid test and purposely making me itchy was a great idea.

Is there always a high chance if a parent has allergies and sinus issues all the time their child will too? I have been wondering about this for a friend who has a small child now and they are starting to do the sneeze thing during change of weather too.

I don't know about sinus issues, but some food intolerances are genetic (but not always, as there are more children now with intolerances than there were 20 years ago).
We are going to take glutens out. I wonder if I have to eliminate them from my diet too, since I'm breastfeeding.

I don't believe that gluten will pass through your breastmilk, I have not heard of people having to do elimination diets for possible gluten intolerance for their breastfed babies as they do for possible milk protein allergies.
I recall having the scratch test for allergies when I was young. They scratch a line down your arm (or back, in my case) with smaller scratches coming off of it, and put drops of allergens on each line to see if you react to anything. Man, that was fun! I am given to understand that it is the most accurate way to test, but I don't think I'd want it done to a 1 yr old.
