Always this way

I keep looking back in history and I cant seem to find it. Many Americans are always labeled as being fat and lazy, esp since we seem to partake on fast food so much. It seems like looking back we went from strong people to lazy, but there wasnt a large transition time that anyone really noticed, now we are here in the 'fat and happy" world and not so happy, so when did it really start?

I would imagine logically it started as the Depression era was over. Those were lean times and things like sugar and butter weren't something you shoveled down in great supply. As the economy swung upwards people became consumers and treated themselves to luxuries they didn't have before. Comfort food has lots of fat and sugar and carbs. In no time the waistlines started expanding.

I am wondering now with some of the prices going up and up and just not stopping whats going to happen. I see a ton of fast food places now that are doing discounts, even Starbucks has one since they are feeling the low customers deal.

I would think it started after fast food places opened up in so many different places. Plus, like babymama said, there was more and better food items available.
