My son, his GF, and my grandson live with me in my house. I have always tried to abide by my grandson's parents rules and not be too intrusive in their raising of the baby. He is now 9 months old and cries because he likes to be held. His mother is with him all day and feels he needs to cry it out and get used to not being held all the time. I work full-time, and when I come home I like to hold my grandson and play with him for a bit. His mother insists that I don't pick him up when he cries because it will reinforce his crying for attention. I don't agree, but that's my opinion, and don't say anything. I want to respect her wishes, but I feel punished because that's my only time with him, and he's cranky towards the end of the day, which is when I come home. How can I give my grandson the loving I want to without causing my son's girlfriend to feel that I don't respect her wishes?
