Another C-section

My OB informed me yesterday that I will have to have another c-section since that's what I had the first time due to pre-eclampsia. It wasn't entirely unexpected but the recovery time is just so long and this time I'll have a 27 month old and a newborn!

If you want to try a VBAC, do some research! There's nothing that says you *have* to have a c-section again just because you had one! I know a LOT of ladies who have had VBACs and it is definitely worth trying for, IMO. And, the recovery of a vaginal birth is definitely shorter!

Like Bun said, read up on VBAC's. The doctor's will try to tell you to go with a c-section, it's easier to schedule and manage - FOR THEM! I remember a doula saying that eating good quality protein can help with pre-eclampsia, but you will want to research that as well so that you can be your best healthwise if you do decide to deliver naturally.

I agree do some research and try a VBAC. There are women who has done it and everything went good. As long as you don't mind an emergency C-section then I would give it a try. I mean if your going to have a C-section anyway you may want to try the VBAC and have chance to have a child vaginally.

I will not be allowed to make a decision on this one. It is the local hospitals policy. After you have had a c-section ALL subsequent births are c-section. It's an insurance thing.

Can you go to a different hospital? I had one baby at our local hospital and said NEVER AGAIN! We chose a hospital that is about 30-45 minutes away for the next one.

I've heard that's going to be the new rule. It's easier on the doctor. If the reason for the C-section was pre-eclamsia, there's no medical reason for the section; except may the shortness of time between this delivery and the last one.

There isn't a really another close hospital the one here is about 2 minutes from my house and I know that will make it easier on my hubby coming back and forth and taking care of our little girl we already have. Plus my doc (whom I love) only delivers at the local hospital.
