My wife is on week 38 right now, and we had a "false alarm" yesterday when she began having contractions 5 minutes apart, and about every other one was enough to take her breath away. Doc office said to go in, even we didn't want to cry wolf for every little change. She's dilated 1cm, but Cervix is still fairly thick according to the nurses. Little bloody discharge yesterday, minor contractions continued today on and off.
My question, how long did you go feeling similar symptoms before you delivered? Can you share with my your experiences? They keep sayin the baby is happy and healthy and ready to go, just not down far enough yet. She is very uncomfortable, trouble sleeping, working, etc.
Any thoughts?
P.S. This is her first pregnancy, if that helps.

I am sure your wife has delivered by now.But the contractions your wife is probably experiencing are getting your wife body ready for the baby .Sometimes it takes a few days of that before any real progress is made but sounds like she is getting there and I would have bet would be there is 24 hrs.
Can we have an update please?

Thanks for the info! Still nothing, contractions are on and off daily, but don't seem to intensify. Hoping it's soon, she's miserable.
Braxton Hicks contractions vary from women to women. I have been in early labor the first time for about 4 days, the second time about 3 weeks. You can have many false alarms before the baby decides its time, every baby is different. Make sure you are timing them and going by doctors orders.

Docs and nurses said it's not Hicks, she had that a few weeks ago. They said it's real contractions, but as of Wednesday, they said it just wasn't strong enough to progress the delivery.

I know my mom went through all sorts of false alarms before I finally decided to come out a week late. I'll bet she was miserable too, but fortunately I was only 7lbs I can only imagine how miserable people are these days with bigger babies being born.

No news yet everyone. Another doc appointment today showed she was dilated to 2cm. Contractions are still every 5 minutes, let's hope they get stronger. Hopefully I'll have some good news in a day or two!

On my first baby I have advised by my doctor that I am already 2cm that was is the morning. We went home and go to the department store to buy some stuff for the baby and me. In the evening i went to the hospital and delivered my first baby after 5 hours of labor.
