I went to a dr. appt yesterday to get an ultrasound to determine how far along i am and to find a heartbeat (dr thought i was 8 weeks based on lmp, but i thought i was not that far along). he didnt see anything and sent me for a high tech ultrasound at a hospital where the tech was able to determine that i am 5 weeks, but saw an empty sac. they were both so gloomy about it - the doctor even told the tech that he thought it wasn't a viable pregnancy. is it too soon to see a fetus at five weeks? i'be been on progesterone supplements for a week because he thought mine was too low at 17; it's now at 26. i am so worried, but trying to think positive.

Is it possible you are not that far aloong yet? I would wait before doing anything (besides the supplement). If there isn't a fetus growing, your body will do what it needs to do.

thank you for your reply. when i went to the dr. for the first time 2 weeks ago, he said he thought i was not as far along as indicated by my lmp, then the other day he kind of forgot he said that originally. but i estimate 5 weeks to be right. so i am still hopeful that something will show up on the next ultrasound sunday. also going for beta levels tomorrow , so will have an idea on saturday if they went up or not. thanks again.

I hope for you that it is just too early-it's possible. At five weeks you would indeed see a foetus, albeit a tiny peanut shaped one.
As bun said, your body will take care of things one way or another and this is often a lot easier for women to deal with as there are no 'what ifs'.
