How did you tell your child that they were going to have a new baby brother or sister on the way?
I came from a family of two other children. A brother and a sister. I was the oldest. I was about 3 1/2 weeks shy of my 4th b-day when my brother was born. I don't remember being told even though I know I probably was. I know I was told when my mom was pregnant with my sister. That I remember.
I remember that every time something was bought for my brother, before he was born, that someone always bought me something. I don't think it would have mattered to me one way or the other. I was a quiet observer and anything that was going on in or around me was just the way it was...lol
When I had my second child, my son, my daughter was 14 months old. She was walking and talking by then. I included her in everything that was going on or that I had to do with her brother. She was old enough where she could hand me something that I needed when I was changing or dressing him. I would let her feed him if we were together on the sofa.
I guess that I was lucky in that I really didn't have to go through the "I'm not sharing" or "That's mine!" attitude that some parents get. How did you introduce the fact that there was a new one coming into the family and how old was your child? How did they react and how did they do after the baby was born?
