View Full Version : Adoption vs Fighting Nature

What do you think of this? I think I'd prefer to adopt an unwanted child than fight nature and demand my own blood. I know a lot of women (and men) just really want their own baby, and I'm alright with that. I certainly would never presume to judge them. Only their heart can tell them what they need. If they need to see their eyes looking back at them to feel complete, or they need to feel that kick inside them, that is WHAT they need.

But what would you do? I never felt a need for my own BLOOD. I had my own blood (he was a surprise) without trying though. If I ever wanted a baby on purpose and couldn't have one, I might think differently. I haven't had to walk in those shoes to really know what I would do, but I think I'd just adopt.

What about you?

I would definitely adopt. having all these 'test tube' babies would definitely have some psycological effects on the child's well being. A child should grow up with its natural mother and father.

My son was a blessing as your own was. :) I however did try with my daughter for over a year. I ended up quitting my job (quite stressing being a manager of a restaurant), and after I calmed myself down, it may have taken over a year, but it finally worked!

I would have no issues adopting any child, if I knew I could care for them, and give them the love and support so many (as you stated) "unwanted" children need. I am not sure if I wanted "my own blood", I actually remember not wanting children for fear of turning into my parents (not the best parents, but I see now, they did try, however alcohol took its toll). I now thank the stars each night that I have my two babies. I was blessed twice, one of each, and so many are unable to conceive. I would also (if not married now and older) be a surrogate mother, so I thought about 10 years ago, but now, knowing the bond I have with both my children, I would be happy if able to do the same for another couple. :)

I have been thinking of adopting lately, but I think maybe I am just too old. My children were all conceived easily. I always wanted to adopt a baby anyway though. Just to make my family so much more. Guess I'll stick with cats. I don't think it's right to go to such great lengths to fight God's design though. If he wanted you to get pregnant you would. Maybe what he wants is for you to adopt the child who, with a right start, will cure cancer.

Adoption is really a good way of giving the unwanted children hope to live a good life. Although I still prefer my own blood because the qualities and the characteristics that the child will have is mine. While on the adopted child, I might blame the parents who conceived the child for having a bad characteristic.

From we were dating, my wife and had agreed on having 2 kids and adopting a third. We had the third child and decided that we wouldn't be able to afford to adopt a child.

I have a very good friend who has miscarried three times now and i asked her if she and her spouse would consider adopting. She said she THINKS she would but her husband is definitely against it.

I think the problem is couples who want their own DNA passed down to their offspring. Also, I think it's partially because many people want newborns that look like them, which can take up to 7 years. If they opt for an older child they worry it may have emotional issues or physical limitations. They want perfection.

I want to adopt a baby or young child from overseas one day. Maybe a little girl from China or a child from Romania or Russia. It would cost a fair bit, but it would be worth it.
