I am still new here, and everywhere else it seems. I was wondering if anyone has good baby/new mother advice, and they can post it here, so I don't have to keep searching for things right now. I get on the computer when I can, and I am sure many understand being a new parent is hard to get used to, most of anything the lack of sleep (I love my sleep and miss it dearly), but my little boy is well worth the sleepless nights. Thank you! I hope to hear some feedback whenever I can get back to the computer again. :)
Congratulations dear. First make sure you don't let that baby run your life. He needs to fit in to your life or things will be very difficult later on. If you normally have a loud household, don't turn it down for the babies sake. Trust me, the baby will adjust. Eat healthy, and make sure you get as much rest as you can.
Gramma is right. don't "shhhhhh" everyone when the baby is sleeping. You don't live in a silent world, if you get him used to sleeping in absolute silence, every little sound is going to disturb him. I wouldn't send a marching band through the nursery or anything drastic like that, but I would make sure I didn't try to change normal noise levels. He'll adjust.
They are both right with the no shhhh deal. When I was pregnant with my son, I was a travel agent, worked until the day I went into labor and he was used to noise, so if we tried to stay quiet, he would freak it. This being a newborn that could stand laying in his bouncy chair and me vacuuming, never even blinked an eye.
I decided since when I was pregnant with my daughter (last year) the opposite happened, so we got her used to noise real quick - just to be on the safe side. :) And she is going on 9 months now, and still sleeps 10 hours a night!

I am just having a fit of giggles picturing marching bands banging their way through baby's room. And I agree! My son will sleep through pretty much anything (except my absence).
Get rest anytime you can. Remember that housework can be done later, your baby is growing up right NOW.
So far so good. I moved back in with my mother for abit, until myself and SO can save for a bigger place (than where we were). My mother wakes at about 4am for her work, there is noise (my mother rented a room out to a friend of mine, after I left and my sister also). We have afew dogs and cats, the TV is always on, or a radio is. The baby is doing just fine as can be. :) We had a couple of off nights, but all is well at the current time. I really don't think I could be quiet if I had to, people tell me I talk too much (and too loud) as it is!
