:D She just had her first baby (boy) a little over a month ago, so I sent her baby gifts and the list below as my "Motherly Advice" after having two of my own. :)
I only use:
- Johnson & Johnson bath/shampoo/powder
- Aveeno diaper rash cream
- Huggie's diapers & wipes (Pampers diapers rip to easy, wipes are too wet and cause diaper rash for both of my kiddos when I used them, also be weary of Huggies Natural Fit, I have tried these twice and there are tiny pieces of plastic from the inside liner than fall off, so I stick with the originals).
- only Gerber baby foods/cereal/juice & only Emfamil formula
I learned with my first (son) that he was allergic to Nickel, so it was hard, but possible to find onesies that had snaps that did not touch the skin. With my girl (so far & fingers crossed) she is not allergic to anything.
- When you start to feed your child baby food, don't use a bottle feeder, it defeats the purpose of teaching them how to use a spoon proper.
- Diaper genies are a God Send! And alway get a box of diapers rather than a bag (if your child is not between stages yet), its never fun to run out at midnight in the rain for a diaper run, only to find a convenience store that has a generic brand and it cost about 12.00 for 12 diapers! And then you cant wait until a real store opens in the morning. :D
The first month, no matter how many times you have done it, this is the hardest. I don't remember sleeping with either child more than an hour or two a day for that month. And the only two scary times, once with my son, his father had him on his chest, we had bed shared for the few first weeks (he was early, we did not have a crib yet), his father let his arm go down, and our son fell into a pile of clothes on the floor. As he was falling, I woke from Mothers Instinct I assume, jumped over the foot-bed, flipped the light on going 'Where is my baby'. The second time with my girl (now 8 months) was being so tired the first month, I would fall asleep sitting up with her in my arms, and always worry that I would tip over and squish her. :)
I will add to this as I remember more. Right now the little girl is teething (first tooth has cut the gum) and everyone is tired here in this household.
