View Full Version : All the cravings
What did you love and hate when pregnant? I could not stand alot of smells, food was a biggie, then anyones perfume would just make my stomach turn. I love all the sweets, I have always had a sweet tooth, but I was really upset with some of my favorites that I could not have (crackers actually made it worse for me).
It seems like it was forever ago but I'll try to remember.
I know I couldn't stand pork, even the word pork would get my stomach turning. The sight of velveeta cheese made me sick also.
I craved peanut m&ms, seafood and cocktail sauce, and slim jims with cheese. Oh also, there was a point in my pregnancy where all I wanted to cantaloupe and fries from wendy's. I had so many different cravings, I never had a consistant one.
I miss cravings, they were interesting.
Interesting to say the least! I really hope you were not trying to eat all those differernt things at one time! Its been so long since I have been with child (over 2 decades) I could not tell you what I liked and didnt like, I ate just about everything in site. Oddly, my youngest, I never ate PB & Jelly when pregnant, but for the first 5 years of his life, thats all he wanted to eat. :)

These cravings do sound interesting. When should I expect them? I'm just a little pregnant now, 8 weeks, and I haven't noticed anything yet. I have to admit the first thing I think of when hearing about pregnant women and their cravings is, of course, pickles and ice cream.
With my first son, when I was 3-4 months pregnant, all I wanted was buttermilk. Seems like that was all I thought about. I could down a quart in just a few minutes. Then later in the pregnancy, I wanted cheese sauce on everything.
With my second son, I don't really remember any particular cravings until after he was born. Then I went through a brief period of eating every Frito I could get my hands on.
Toothpaste was about the only thing that I started really hating. It was really hard to brush my teeth for those first few months. That's the only time I was ever actually sick. I had to hold my breath the whole time I brushed my teeth.
With my son all I wanted were sweets, with my girl all I wanted were salty things. When I was pregnant with my son, I had an entire box (of 24, yes) Krispie Kreme donuts. And with my girl, if you seen me with a can of cashews, minutes later it would be empty. My DH actually worried I ate too much junk food the first few months with our girl, and asked the doctor if it was okay, his reply was "If she can keep it down, let her eat anything she wants" - awesome doctor. :D

My best friend went on a Whopper Jr binge last month. She couldn't smell a burger without wanting one. She also has a thing for Cheese flavored taco shells. And pumpkin spice lattes. She seems to have worse cravings as she goes along.

How soon do people usually get cravings? I am not sure how far along I am because we have no hospital where I live but they think I might be around a few weeks pregnant. The women in my family are known for having early symptoms and odd cravings. I have been craving tomatoes and pickles for the past few days which is funny because I HATE tomatoes and pickles.

I don't think I am craving for something, but what I am sure about is that I am always hungry. But I am not craving for a particular food.

That reminds me when I pregy with my son! What I had for lunch during work days (worked up til the day I popped). I had an arguement with a BK dude once, he was all wondering why every day I came in to get a Whopper Jr. with only extra cheese and no condiments, when I could just get a Whopper the same, and it would be larged. I told him no, my stomach can hold 2 Whopper Jrs and if I got a regular Whopper I would be wasting food.
He tried to argue with me for like 4 minutes, then his mngr. came up and told him not to try to defeat a pregy lady in an arguement, and gave me my lunch that day for free (2 Whopper Jrs, drink and fries) as he was a parent of 5 children and learned the hard way!

I hated peanut butter until I got pregnant, and all of a sudden I am craving it. I've no idea whether it will last. Other than that my big thing was garlic-I had to have garlic bread for breakfast every day for a week.
I must have stunk but it was ok, I was on bedrest, no one to smell me!
I had no cravings, to say the least, I was a bit dissapointed because I was looking forward to it. I have always heard about these cravings, but they seem to have eluded me. :)

With my first ,I could not stand the smell of cooking oil. I remember with one the thought of kissing my husband turned my stomach! I never did tell him that.I was afraid he would be hurt and not understand it was a pregnant thing.
