So many people mistake the signs and symptom's for something else. I have heard "I think I have the flu" on more than one occasion. I thought it would be a good idea, esp. for some of our younger ladies here to get a full scoop on the real deal. :)
First off, a delayed period does not always means you're pregnant.
Secondly, yeast infections can affect test results to be incorrect.
Third, pregnancy tests are not always accurate.
Now, lets talk about the most common signs women have:
Tender breasts/nipples (how I knew, both times)
Slight spotting or cramping (never happened for me, but might for you)
Darkening aureoles
Extreme fatigue (this happens a day before I start, so I didn't pay attention)
Nausea and vomiting (this didn't happen til months later)
Frequent urination
Constipation
Raised basal body temperature (not many women check this anymore sadly)
Missed period (sometimes you can skip a month)
A positive pregnancy test (which leads me back to the 3rd thing I spoke of)
Now lets talk about that, I have taken a test before, got a negative, a positive and a negative, and then I went to the doctor and found out it was in fact negative. Sometimes they are flaky, not usually but sometimes, so if you get a false/positive, its always best to check with a doctor. :) Many things can affect a HPT. Its better to know, than not know.
Not all women get the normal signs of pregnancy, some get very lucky. With my first, after it started, I had morning-noon-night sickness, and always wanted sweet foods with my son. Now with my girl, I was always nauseas but never actually vomited, and always wanted salty things. Every pregnancy is a little different, these are all general guidelines to go by. If you don't know, then seek medical help and ask, that's what doctors are for. :)
