What do you do when your kid starts having an attitude problem? My daughter is 11 and has the biggest sttitude thing going on right now. We're getting really tired of it. She won't listen and complains every time we ask her to do anything. We're not lenient but this seems to be getting worse. Help please!

The pre-teen years are the beginning of the attitude problems. The child is torn between being a kid and wanting to be an adult. It is a very trying time for the parents but you will get through it, I promise. Although, there are days you just want to pull your hair out.

What worked for me with the complaint stage (for one daughter, anyway) was I pulled the same thing back to her for a few days and she got the point. Everytime I had to do anything for her (cooking dinner, making lunch, doing laundry, etc), I complained and whined about how unfair life was and how she made me do everything. I went on and on...after a couple of days, she came to me and apologized.

It didn't make all the complaints go away but it did make her see how totally annoying it was to me to have to listen to her all the time. LOL.

The teen years are always nice, even though you may not have been trouble for your parents doesnt mean your kids will be well behaved no matter what you have taught them. See if you can find any underlaying issues that may be causing it to start off with.
