View Full Version : Babies On Planes

I know we've all been on flights where we've had to tolerate a screaming baby. I assume it's the pressure in their ears that makes them cry so much? As an adult, you can pop your ears or chew gum, but what can you do to help a baby not be so miserable? Someone said giving them a bottle at takeoff and landing would help because as they swallow it will help their ears pop. But I would think that could just as easily upset their stomach? Any thoughts?

I never really thought about that, but I'm sure it would be very painful to a baby. A pacifier might help some. I'm afraid actually giving them something in a bottle might make them sick on takeoff or landing.

I think I'd steer clear of milk or formula in a bottle. If they're old enough to have juice that could be okay. Or maybe just water. But if anything is going to upset their stomach, I would think it would be milk or forumula.
