Right now my son is about 5 weeks old, and I still worry when I bathe him. I have never done this without the help of someone (mostly my own mother) and I worry a ton about this! It seems like when my mother bathes him, it is complete second nature to her, holding him, turning him, etc. When I do it, I'm still floppy about it. Does anyone have some suggestions please?

this has been a worry for us to. My mom keeps saying not to worry about it, I'll be fine but it still troubles me. I'd be interested to learn any tips anyone might have also.
All babies when wet are slippery (just like those road signs you see). I have always bathed my babies in the kitchen sink until they were about 1-2 months old (depends the size of baby too).
Always keep one hand on the baby AT ALL TIMES, I am right handed, so I would keep my left behind the baby's back (across the under of shoulder blades), and lock around under baby's left arm. This way I can do all the washing with my right hand.
When they are ready to get into the "big" tub, I have found it easier (with my grand baby now) to use a soft towel or sponge in the tub, to keep them from slipping around, but always keep a hand on the baby too.
I love those new little bath seats. I wish I had something like that with my babies! No slip perfection. Some even have little belts. You might want to look in to something like that. With or without it though, practice makes perfect. You will get the hang of it, and some day your child will be making the same comment about YOU.
