Hi. I have a 6 month old baby and he goes to bed around 7-8pm at night, and always wakes up around 12-12:30am for a bottle and a diaper change. Then, he goes back to sleep and wakes up again around 3:30-4am for another bottle and diaper change! This waking up twice a night is killing me. What can I do to help him sleep at night? I've tried keeping him awake later, but he gets too tired. And he normally is ready to get up for the day by 7:30am-8am in the morning. Please help!
I think the only way to get him to sleep through the night is going to be keeping him up later. Try doing it gradually so you don't get him too exhausted. Just make bedtime a little later each night.

What are you feeding your baby? At 6 months old the child should be on some solid foods and sleeping more of the night away.
I found that adding a bit if the baby cereal to the forumular (sorry my spelling isn't to great) helps keep that tummy fuller longer and the child will sleep threw the night in most cases when you do this.

Your childs hunger is the key to the problem. It's little tummy is only half full if all you are giving him is a bottle at bed time.

Are you feeding him near his bedtime? If he's not going to bed until a couple of hours after he's eaten, maybe he's already starting to get hungry. You didn't really say in your post what time his last feeding is.

When I had my children (30+ years sgo) we put cereal in the milk when the child was a month old. This kept the little tummy full longer and started the child sleeping longer at night. I'm more than sure that's not how it's done now but, just wanted to let you know what worked back in the day.

Are you letting him take long naps through the day? If my boy has an unusually long nap during the day, he won't sleep as well at night.

I found this when re-checking everything!
Since I had my son when I was 22, and my daugther when I was 26, alot of things slipped my mind. My girl is 8 months now and still wakes early morning/late night, but during that "light sleep" stage, ends up going back to sleep on her own. I got luck with her! Big brother was not as nice. :)
For most parents "sleep through night" means a 5-6 hour deal.
