Did anyone here have a baby registry anywhere? I've had friends and now the daughters of friends that are using that little gift gather. Is it really worth it? Did you get what you had listed?

My neighbor's daughter had a shower thrown for her. Mostly everyone had used one of the three registries that she had registered for. She had Toys R Us, Kids R Us and a local baby boutique.

I thought it was nice to have a better idea of what to get, but unless you hit the list early most of the inexpensive items have been bought first. I think it's somewhat impersonal. I remember my shower. The bigger ticket items that I had there were friends or family that had pooled their resources and got them. The gifts that were put together, like baskets with a theme, were just as special and needed. You could never have too many diaper pins, baby brush and comb sets, or talcum powder.

My daughter is refusing to do the baby registry thing. She didn't do a bridal registry when she got married either. She always says "I'm not going to tell people what to buy me". I'm very proud of her! :D

We only asked to include reciepts with everything, and the most expensive duplicates we took back, although it sounds kind of bad. It went back to the baby.

I wish we had one of these back in my day. I would be getting married and having babies so often.

We don't have a registy yet, but we'll probably be getting one. I'll probably do something national since a lot of our family is out of state and we'll want the registry to be available on the internet. These little local boutiques are sweet, but most of our relatives won't have access to them. I'm considering JCPenney.
