I thought this would be the best place to put this. What are the best baby shower gifts you have gotten/seen? One of my hobbies is a diaper cake. It is a 3-tiered cake of wrapped baby diapers, with lots of goodies and knick-knacks for the baby. It is really an interesting thing. If I had pictures, I would post an end result.

I don't really know much about baby showers, what are dads supposed to do? We our having ours in about 2 months (we plan waay ahead).

Ahhhhhhhhh the baby shower. A wonderful thing indeed.
I've always had problems picking a gift as there's so many cute things on the market now. So, I go the safe way and buy diapers. That's the one item that is always needed in big suppy.

Diapers is always the safe thing :D. But I like to do something a little extra. It all helps in the long run.

Yes, one of my friends said that diapers ended up being the best gift. They ran out the quickest!!

Give the gift of a gift card to the closest Baby Shop. This way the soon to be mom can get what she wishes.
I usually give cash. Then, whatever they end up not getting, they'll be able to run out and pick up at whatever store they choose. You never know what they'll end up really needing, so it's hard to know which gift card to buy.

Clothes, diapers, money, and emotional support. Seems to work the best.
Another thing that's nice to do is to find something special for the mom-to-be. All the focus is on the baby, it's nice for the mom to know she's appreciated too. I gave my friend a gift certificate for a pedicure for when she could finally see her feet again. :) This was in addition to the gift for the baby. She absolutely loved it.

Some things I've given that went over really well were:
1. A diaper bag filled with lots of the small items she'll be needing.
2. Tiered Gift - Blanket in bottom box - Outfit in middle box - Set of bibs in top box........ Tied together with ribbons and decorated with stuffed animals tied on with ribbon.
3. Money Tree - We've all seen money trees. I decorated one with dollar bills and pink ribbons when my friend had a shower (she knew it was a girl).
4. Savings Account Passbook - I started the account with $100. Every birthday and Christmas I add $100 to the account.

We went to a baby shower recently where both men and women were invited, and the mother and father were both there. We took a baby gift of course, but then we also took a gift for the mom & dad to be. It was just a restaurant gift certificate and an offer to babysit while they enjoyed a night out after the baby was born.

That's actually a good idea. I think I might do that for my next grandchild.

Thanks. We thought it was a pretty good idea. People think of the moms once in awhile, but they rarely include the dads when they're thinking of gifts.

I liked the idea of a money-tree. I sure hope I get that one :p.

Yeah, money-trees are always good. Maybe even giftcard trees. Or even a combination of both.

I never had a "baby shower" with either my 5yr old son, or my 8mo old girl. Son came 3 weeks early and girl was a day early. With the son, early surprised us and with our daughter we had family conflicting issues. Though her father did get a crib for his 30th birthday!!! :)
Hi All
Found these whilst browsing on the net; they are adorable little cup cake gifts. The idea is really clever; each cup cake box contains four cup cake onesies and packaged to look like little cup cake gifts. The onesies are designed to fit babies 0 - 6 months generously or up to 16lbs.
Bring a smile to mom's face with these adorable cute little cup cake gifts.
