Hello all,

Baby is a week old today...All is going great really, can't complain...

Today I noticed that her breasts are swollen and *hard* ...I've read about swollen breasts from mommy's hormones and actually did notice that her breasts were a tad bit swollen last week, but today both of baby's breasts have fingertip-size lumps underneath the skin...

Is this normal? I'm trying not to be a manic dad (first-time dad & mom), but I'm having a hard time finding anything relevant when searching "baby" + "breast" or similar -- all i get are breastfeeding links or one-liners about how hormones can swell baby's breasts but should go away in a couple days kinda info.

Baby appears very healthy and hydrated is pooping/peeing/feeding very well...

Thanks for any info anyone might have on this!!! :)

I had heard of the breasts swelling slightly on breast-fed babies but I don't remember anything about lumps. Honestly, I think your best bet is to give the pediatrician a call. Even if it turns out to be nothing (which it will most likely will), at least you'll feel better.

I was warned that the baby could even make milk in the first week or so. It is possible that it is related to that-that essentially the baby's breasts are engorged, but I would want to check this out with a ped for sure.
