Where I come from, this is an expletive, but it happens to be a nice soft holder for a baby. It helps young babies to sit up and balance themselves. Check it out. http://www.bumbobabyseat.com/

Where are you from that it's an explicitive? Just curious.
I had one for my son. I just want to say, these are made for skinny babies! My son got his thunder thighs stuck a few times!

I am from Jamaica, Bumbo, is a common expletive used here. So even writing it makes me feels queasy since I don't use expletives at all. I just found it funny how different cultures can use words differently.
I had a Bumbo for my son and he loved it. He was not a baby that took to being put down lightly and had a constant need for me to hold him. His Bumbo was the only thing he would be content in. He did have those thunder thighs, and sometimes had to be "pried" out of the seat, but he never seemed to mind!
I do remember hearing that they have been recalled, but that would not prevent me from using it for another baby! :p
We were out the other day and I swear the booster seat a friend was using had to be made for tiny babies and toddlers. Not quite high enough to sit at a booth in a resturant and looked like it was pinching the thighs too. I wonder if they could make an expandable one?

Well they are made out of a firm foam so I wouldn't think it would pinch too much. But it does have to be tightish, a firm grip, to stop a wobbly baby falling out.
The ones I saw looked like they would do a good job, my only concern is that they don't seem to have them in various sizes, at least the ones I saw. My baby is a little plump.

I have seen these seats before but never knew what they were called. Thanks for the link. I think I'll start looking around for one at yard sales and if I have to buy it new I might just do that!

They are indeed problematic for babies with chunky thighs. Those who are built like that simply cannot use them because the seat will be too tight on the thighs.
