I know they immunize for chicken pox now, but they didn't when I was a baby. I had chicken pox as an adult, and let me tell ya... it was AWFUL!! Anyway, I was reading somewhere (can't quote a source, sorry) that the immunization doesn't work and your child can get chicken pox anyway. They recommend a booster shot. But I do remember it saying the case of chicken pox wasn't as severe if the child had the immunization. Has anyone read about that? I've also heard you can get Chicken pox twice, does anyone know if that's true or not?

You can't get chicken pox twice! I don't know, I've always been told, and to date my ped says the same thing, avoid it til he's 7ish, then let him catch it and get it over with.

Yea I have never heard of getting pox twice either. I was born in 1980 and was about 3-4 when I got it, and never got it again, thankfully since my sisters children (all three) seemed to get it at the same time, and since her *sis* and I are 17 years apart, her children are close to my age.

I have NO CLUE if my husband has gotten them or not, I really need to email his mother in London and ask, just to be on the safe side. Our daughter was born 11Oct06 and she received shots in the hospital, and we were sent home about 28 hours after I was admitted (clock in 7am, clock out 6pm next day). We were told we had to take her to a doctor for a 24 hour check up after wards, we did - didn't like the doctor - and decided til she is closer to school age/preschool - no shots. She has never had anything more than a runny nose, like twice - thats all. :) With my son, born in AZ and not SC here, he has been sick quite afew times - with ALL of his shots - makes you wonder.
