Do you have your child play interests, my wife always felt that it was important to have the children play an instrument, so that is what we did. We are going to have our twins learn piano and guitar.

I never learned to play an instrument, and I've always regretted it. So, my children will have piano lessons as soon as they are old enough. If they decide they would rather switch to something else, that's up to them, but piano will be their starting point.

My daughter learned to play Piano. She got really good. She also learned the flute in high school. She made first chair in both.

I am 15 years old, a freshman in high school. I have been playing clarinet since I was in 5th grade. I am the only one in my family that plays an instrument.

I played clarinet in high school, but never kept at it. I miss it now. My hubby is a musician. He plays guitar and now both of our children play. Giving them the oppuntunity to choose what they would like to play in school has kind of gone by the wayside because of the lack of funding. That's a shame.

Renting an instrument is one way to go, but that can be expensive.

My family wasn't into the school band, but I was in the school choir. I think with Peter, I'm going to leave it up to him to choose what he wants to do. Voice would be cheeper...lol
