View Full Version : Cloth Diapers
With everybody thinking "green" these days, is anyone using cloth diapers or even thinking about using cloth diapers? I know it would probably be better for the environment, but I can only imagine that if I ever actually have a baby I'm going to be busy enough without adding "wash poopy diapers" to the list.
No cloth for us. I don't want to do the dirty washing!
My friend had a green wedding, and now she and her husband are building their own home and trying to make it environmentally concious, solar panels in the roof and that sort of thing. She says when she has children she'll use cloth. But she'll probably have a Nanny to change them. That's what gave me the idea to ask here... just to see if it was something "everybody" was doing these days. I agree with you though, Amber. :)

When I gave birth to my son, he wore cloth diapers. I think that is more important now to have your child wear them if you are wanting to protect the environment. But since most people have to work and day cares do not always always feel the same way then you do what you have to.

We used cloth diapers with our children, but you have to be prepared to use them. They do not really have the comforts that most people find with disposables so keep that in mind. They have to be cleaned more often and some people find that more difficult.

We went disposable all the way. I breastfed, coslept, nurtured, and followed AP almost all the way. But I have to draw the line somewhere, and cloth diapers are where I drew it. The extra laundry (couldn't afford a service), the pins, that's all just honestly too much for me. I had so many problems as it was that one more straw on the camels back would have been too much. I admire people who have the motivation to see this through though.
Things sure have changed. They said breastfeeding was not as healthy as formula. Babies just do not grow on the breast. I really think it is interesting how everyone tries to do the exact opposite of their parents. We used cloth diapers, formula, and babies slept on their tummy in a crib!! I honestly think that is safer anyway. What if you roll over the baby?
