Did you ever notice toddlers seem to be more fascinated by commercials than actual shows? One of my husband's relatives has a little girl that stops everything when a commercial comes on. And my cousins son was so funny when he was little, you could say words and he'd repeat them... unless you said "butter", then he'd say "PARKAY" and giggle. Anyway... we thought it was cute.
Commercials are designed to catch attention. Parkay, it's a catchy sounding word. I even remember the tone it's said in is high pitched, far more effective at catching attention than the general drone of a 30 minute show.

With shows they can get so repetitive. Kind of like how websites can get really. Things need more OOMPH to get going. Nowadays I watch commercials and I'm just like uhm...zoom...zoom? Boring. I just wanna see a blooper of the kid forget the line and they accidentally put that on the air. That would be great.
