Ugh... is anyone in my boat. I'm SOOOO constipated, I have 9.5 more weeks to go and I don't think I can take it! I've tried to limit all my stopping-up foods and eat lots of fruit and drink tons of water, but no luck. Any suggestions?

Are you taking any iron supplements? I notice that those can stop you up. Another thing I know that if you take digestive enzymes they help with the whole constipation issue. I am not sure if they are bad for pregnancy, I read the bottle and it does not mention anything. All it is is extra enzymes that help you to break down food and pass it easier.

Oooohhh...I've been there girl! I can sympathize.....
Get some stool softeners. They are gentle and not habit-forming....they work very well....and drink a LOT of water!!

I would second the digestive enzymes (probiotics). They come in all sorts of great stuff these days like cheese, yogurt, and powdered drink mix (the little single serve ones). You can also take them in tablets if you don't do dairy or fake sweetner.

Thanks for the suggestions! I do take probiotics and digestive enzymes already (which aren't actually the same thing, just so you know). I have to take iron because my hematocrit is low, but I'm taking floradix which is supposed to be gentler. I'm going to ask about the stool softners at my next appointment. I don't want to give birth already having hemmies!

I am right where you are too and it's most uncomfortable. The stool softeners really are a wonderful thing, not only making me go but not hurting as it happens. They are nothing like laxatives.

Have you tried eating prunes, they helped me when I was in a similar position. I also had high fibre foods. I know it must be a very uncomfortable and unsettling feeling.

I tried prunes when I was pregnant, but they gave me terrible gas pains. It wasn't worth it! I also recommend drinking lots of water, taking lots of walks, and a warm water bottle on your lower back. It's hard towards the end, not much helps.
