Whats your preference on sleeping arrangements for your child? I think bassinettes are oh so cute. When my cousin was pregnant, her mom asked me to help her get a bassinette as a surprise. She knew I found some really good deals online so I started looking. By the time I found a good deal, and a good coupon, used some Flooz (long time ago... online money you could get for free for doing stuff) used a paypal bonus, I got it for free. She was thrilled. They had a really small place and didn't really have room for a big crib. The bassinette was great for the first few months.
We are for sure going to get a bassinette. In fact we've been shoping for one and there are some nice ones out there. Going to be hard to pick just one.

They are cute but to me not worth the money, spend that money on a higher quality crib if you want to. They will not last long in the bassinet anyway.
My son in 2002, was born 3 weeks early - I think due to bad math. We did not have a crib for him right away, so first four days he slept in a laundry basket with a blankie in it, then onto his crib and sometimes his playpen for a nap.
My daughter in 2006, went from a bassinet (hooks to top of play yard) and works til she is 30lbs, though we took her out of there after 1st month, and no longer use it since she hit 20lbs............she has been in the crib for night sleeping since she was a month old! :)
