When did you make the move from the crib to the bed? Was it hard for your child?

We were in the process of renovating the bedrooms. Both the master and the quest room. We all slept in one bedroom until the kids bedroom was done. My son slept in the crib that was bumped up to the single bed. My daughter slept in the single bed. There were some mornings when we would wake up and find our daughter sleeping all curled up next to her brother in the crib. Kelly was about 2 years old and Paul was about 10 months old. When we had them all moved into their room it was rough getting Kelly to understand that she had her own bed to sleep in.

I think that about 2 years is a good age to put a child in their own bed. It's making sure that they don't fall out of the bed or start wandering around your house late a night.

I had a friend that had their child in a bed of his own. They lived in an apartment with a long hallway that went down to the master bedroom from the kitchen in the front part of the house. They did have trouble with him getting up earlier in the morning. They did until one morning they woke up with their son standing next to their bed with a butcher knife in his hands. He was asking for buttered toast for breakfast.

They had no idea that he knew where the knives were kept. They had them in a cabinet over the kitchen counter. That meant that he had to have dragged a chair over to the counter and climbed to get the knife. How scary is that???

Around one and a half to two years for my son, when the time comes.

My two sons always slept on beds, they never ever fell out, not once.
