View Full Version : Dads and Diapers
I am nice and I let her dad off sometimes with diaper changes, but sometimes I must admit I will trick him into it. On the weekends when he is not up at the crack of dawn going to work, I have asked him to go get the girl from upstairs so I can feed her, then I am like TA HA diaper change. I know it sounds mean, but I change more than he does and sometimes I just really want a break from it. ;)

He has never changed a diaper in his life so it ought to be really interesting when the time comes. His poor face gets the oddest expression every time the subject comes up. I honestly think he is scared of the idea but I don't know if it's he's scared of the baby or scared of the poops!

My dad loved changing my diaper since he often missed out on spending enough time with me as a kid. He still has no issues changing a poopy diaper which is nice since I know it means when we have kids he won't be put out watching them.

My husband does a great job! I've mentioned elsewhere that we do natural infant hygiene, and he even takes the baby potty. :D don't underestimate dads! My hubby had never changed a diaper before our first, but got up in the middle of the night her first night and did it for me.
That's really very sweet, I am sure he was somewhere practicing on some kind of doll, just to make sure he got it right. No doubt he did.

Ha ha, mine has no choice. With two, I sometimes don't have enough hands to do it all. He was great from the start though. He grew up in a big home, where help was expected, even with diapers.

Mine changed one diaper, ever. He always managed to make himself scarce at diaper time, or else just hand her over, or plain refuse to care for them-that was the norm.
And the one he changed was awful-fell off when I picked the kid up.

We have 3 kids and because they are all more than a couple tears apart, I had sufficient time to forget how to fold them properly, (we used the cloth ones a lot and disposables were more for special occasions). However with each arrival and a quick refresher course from wifey, I was good to go and I think I did my fair share of the changes...and was pretty good at it.
I guess I was "lucky" with much younger siblings and overworked parents. I was often the one to change my youngest brother's diapers, even though I was only eight or nine at the time. It was a icky, but it was more of a pain in the neck than anything else. I'd rather have been reading or playing outside than changing a diaper, but it's really just another chore.
So when our first was born, it wasn't anything new or unexpected to me. I didn't mind having to do it, or see it as something that was "mommy's" responsibility.
Mine is pretty good with the diaper changes and helps out when he is home as much as possible which is really nice. I love when he gets the nasty ones though, the first time he ever did a yucky change you should have seen his face!

Well, I hope mine is good with changes. I know I am, as I babysat a lot as a kid. He, on the other hand, has never really been around babies before. I'm thinking a trial by fire will be in store.
