The other day my neighbor called me in a blind panic because her daughter swallowed a dime and she was convinced she was going to die. I told her she will probably pass it in a day or so and to not worry. Anyone else's kids eat change?

No, to this date there has been no spare change passing his lips. I rarely carry real money, instead putting everything on plastic. So there isn't often anything in the house that he could swallow.

I got a chuckle from this one but I do remember the days of panic as a new mom. My second daughter put everything in her mouth...you name it and she had to taste it. She swallowed a quarter when she was around 18 mos and it passed fine the next day. The only time I really freaked was when she put a mushroom in her mouth while playing on the lawn at her grandparents house. I called the doctor and everything because you never know with mushrooms.

I recall swallowing a couple pennies and a quarter myself. But then again I used to eat mussels raw at the beach too, so I apparently ate just about anything when I was younger.

I remember a neighbour kid swallowing a penny. I was about 5 or 6. She was about 18 months and was taken to the hospital. I think it was because of the copper content of pennies back then. Silver colored change is a bit safer. She came home so I guess she was fine.

My kids, I don't think so. Never had any gifts in their diapers either.

I am pretty sure have swallowed a coin or two in my day. A few years ago I heard a fact-can't quote it exactly but it was something like the average child eats over 21 pounds of dirt before they turn to a teenager. Something like that, anyways I was floored. Just goes to show you can eat all sorts of things and they won't kill ya.

I have never heard of many swallowing them but more sticking things in their nose. A friends kid loved peanuts too much one day and ended up in the ER getting it taken out my a doctor.
