My 4 year old isn't a big eater at all. So my aunt gave him Pediasure and he loved it so he keeps begging me to get more. But I did a little research and it says we should consult the pedriatician first. I did and he said my it wasn't necessary. So is it ok to just give him a bottle once in a while to satisfy his craving?

I think the reason it says to consult the physician is for very young babies. Because they can go from good to bad so quickly it's important that the doctor knows what's going on. A four year old should be fine having some here and there.

I think the advice to ask the ped. is more to allow an open dialogue about nutrition (aka don't only feed pediasure since it tastes like choc milk) and not on the medical level. Some people are silly enough to read its a meal replacement and think three bottles a day is the same as three meals a day. Obviously thats not a great idea long term but a bottle here and there is ok.
