Since many colleges have early enrollment for students that are 16 years of age, how do you feel about sending your kids to college at an earlier age. Do you think it will give them a better chance in the job market?
I think it might actually make them want to go. When I started college, I was 17, but I turned 18 within a month. I didn't want to go to college so I only stuck around for one semester. If I'd started at 16, I'd of at least had an associates degree before I decided enough was enough... and with two years invested, and having made new friends, I would have probably stuck around for 4 years. So, if you can get into college at an early age, go for it. There was a 12 year old in my college. And I believe he was a year ahead of me. I'm sure he went on to do great things. I had a orthopedic doctor when I was a kid who told me he started medical school when he was 15. And he was the best in his field. I'm all for early college.

Maybe college is not in your son/daughters interest. They might not even want to go to college, just strait into the workforce. If I were you I'd wait until a older age to ask them what they really want.

I think getting them in there around 16 if they are academically capable and interested is a great thing! When I was in high school they had a head start program, you could take certain college courses at the same time as your high school. I couldn't get to and from the college so I didn't go. But the students who did really liked it.

I agree, it depends on the academic capabilities of the child. They might also have personal preference over different colleges too. On of my friends, her first son went to college and was very academically capable but the second son dropped out in high school and entered the workforce. There are many differences between children's personalities.
