I have problem taking care of my daughter. She does'nt like to eat so much and I was really alarmed that she is already under weight and getting thinner. I always bring her in groceries to pick what she likes but only a handfull of chips and snacks she only choose. When she eat, it always take hours to finished her food. What do you think alternative food that I could give her to gain her weight and increase her appetite... nead your advice friends...

How old is she? If she's still on the younger side you can do what my mom used to: no snacks until you've eaten something thats good for you, or only snacks that are good for you. We never had sugar cereal, or fruit snacks when I was a kid unless it was made with 100% real fruit or no added sugar. Shredded with without frosting was a very regular thing. Don't let her take hours to eat. Give her until the rest of the family is done (within reason) and then take away the leftovers. She may just realize she can eat what she wants and take as long as she wants and you need to be a bit firmer. I know in the US they have a meal replacement shake for children who are picky eaters that comes in flavors like vanilla and chocolate and various fruit flavors too so kids will drink it. Its called Pediasure. The store locater on their site says they can't provide information for out of the US, but you might want to look for something like that. Also ask her doctor for some help to see if there is a reason why she isn't really hungry. My niece has always been like that as well. She's eat maybe two chicken nuggets, a couple fries and a carton of milk for lunch since she's been about 5yrs old. She's ten this month and she doesn't eat much more now. She's just picky and not a big eater, but she's not going hungry or begging for snacks either. Some people have a high metabolism and are very lean and bony looking till they grow up and fill out a bit.

Yeah, I agree completely with what stuffabunny said. There are some things you don't learn until you're a parent, and being a parent makes you become more clever. Think of clever ways to get your children to eat.

She is already 6 years old. We usually eat together, but what I'm doing right now is to give her a small amount of food in her plate for her to see that she could easily finished them all. Sometimes if I have time, I steemed vegetables and put it in a blender and mix the blended vegetables in a fried rice. Do you think it is healthy?

Honestly if she is already underweight and becoming more so, I would concentrate less on the healthy veg, and start looking at things that are higher in calories. Things like avocados are high fat, and fruits like bananas. You need to find things that she likes; if that means making your own chicken nuggets and adding puréed broccoli to them, then so be it.

That would be great! I think, I have to find ways to blend healthy foods to the foods that she likes to eat without noticing that she already eating the healthy foods. I'm going to try that and I'll post here again what happen and if there is an improvement to her eating habit. Thanks guys!!!

If I might suggest, smoothies are a good way to go. You can pack them full of high fat dairy (full fat milk not 2% in her case) along with something like tofu for extra protein and lots of yummy fruit. Even veggies can be puréed into smoothies and won't be noticed.

I see that you are from the Philippines. I heard that there are a lot of different fruits there. You might try to look for a fruit that your baby really loves to eat. If she like snacks that are crispy, you might try looking for fruits that are crunchy like apples or pears. If your baby likes sweet snacks, try feeding her with sweet fruits like ripe mangoes or watermelons. My point is, you know what your baby loves to eat, just try to substitute it with healthy food.

Yeah, we have lots of fruits here in the Philippines. She loves watermelon and mangoes. Giving her tofu would be a great idea since tofu has lots of protein. What kind of fruits do you think that can makes her gain more weight and fat?
