View Full Version : Eating The Christmas Tree

My oldest niece was gleeful to tell me her baby sister has taken to chewing on the Christmas tree every chance she gets since my sister-in-law is less than observant sometimes. She has just started teething (I think) which may account for it. Is this dangerous to eat?

It certainly could be. On the more mild side it could be caked in dust. On the worst side, if it's a made in China it could be containing lead or other chemicals that a kid should not be ingesting.

I'd encourage the end of that habit.

The season has passed so I guess the tree is down, but don't take it lightly even though the picture of it sounds a little funny. :)

I would not reccommend christmas tree to anyone. I know it is cute but there are cute baby toys too that can be eaten. If you laugh and cause encouragement now it could lead to problems later.

I am assuming it is a fake tree. Very bad for the baby. A real tree is just as bad I just would not want the baby to hurt themselves or eat something poisionous. They just found out that christmas lights have lead in the wire. Very dangerous and not even printed on the box.

Little ones will chew on anything they can sometimes. Many friends of mine are just now learning how to keep things away from their kids that are not the best as teething toys (remotes, cell phones, key chains). Its always a battle, but you get used to it after so long and this is the first time I have heard of a yule tree being chewed on, I would worry about the lights as well.
