At what age did you start your baby on first foods and cereal? When my first was born they advised feeding at 6 weeks old. When my last one was born they did not advice you to start feeding till 6 months old.I thought that was a long time for just formula.

My first had little interest in actual eating. She had her first tastes at 7.5 months, but didn't really start eating more than tastes until almost 9 months.
My second was exactly 6 months when he started eating "solids". Mine were breastfed, but it is really all they need for the first 6 months or longer (really, it makes up most of their diet for the first year). Breastmilk and formula are calorie and nutrient dense, and introducing food can affect absorption of the nutrients in milk.
We also hold off on grains until 8 or 9 months and then only minimal amounts.
