Do you still remember the first clear full word of your baby? Babies could say one syllables at a time. And mostly they could say "mama" or "dada" for the repetition of one syllable.

This reminds me of "Meet the Fockers" wherein the baby's first word was a**h*le. :D

Her first word was dada, at six months. I thought it was just babble, not a real word, that it was too young. But then I left her father at 6 months 2 weeks, because he got violent. She stopped saying it, so I figure it was real.

The next was pee. That was her way of asking to nurse-she was saying please, but people thought I had an amazing, 8 month old potty trained child!

Our daughters first was 'dada' which quickly turned into ''da-doo'' and she called him that till she was about four! Son, first word was 'mama' (what a good boy!) :)

My foster daughter's first word was Mama. It made me happy but sad at the same time. She doesn't know that I am not her real mother. As for me, my first word was Mamaw.

My girl is still doing dada and "a na na na" now, but I swear the other day she looked right at me and told me NO. :)

Haha, so many kids say "no" first because its what they hear. My first word was "daddy" because my mom used to show me a picture of him while he was away and never called herself mom. I swear she resents it to this day.

I know someone that instead of dada, went with poppop something that is mostly used for grand fathers, we are still not sure how this friend managed that over dada.

It really depends on the person watching the baby. Because the person watching tries to tell the baby of his or her name, more often the mother is the one to be the first to be called by the baby. As for me, my mother told me that my first word is "mama".
