What is the general diet of a teenager, as in, what do your kids like to eat? I am trying to prepare for when my nephew comes and lives with me.

The only teenager I know well is a bit of a health food nut! It makes her different from her peers! She is also heavy into sports so good nutrition is important to her. That said, I think most teens like food that is quick and easy to eat while they are texting their friends!

When I was a teen I tried to eat good, but junk food was still my favorite thing to eat besides fast food. I would call ahead and check to see for any foods they might be allergic too, get some healthy stuff and maybe some of their favorite foods.

Teenagers tend to be picky on what they eat at this period. It is better to place foods that are healthy in the table. They will eventually eat whatever is placed in the table if they become hungry. Also, try to make a variety of healthy foods and not just one type so they have choices on what food to eat.

Definitely check on allergies and what they typically eat at home alot. Serving some of their favorites will help ease the transition and make the homesickness less stressful. Healthy things are good and individual portions of everything. If you have little baggies of veggies they are quick to grab just like chips only better for you.

I have 2 teens, a boy and a girl. Their eating habits are vastly different. The girl eats very sparingly and if I'm not watchful, she'll skip dinners. I know she's more concerned about putting on weight and spoiling her shape. The boy on the other hand is into body-building and defining his six-pack. He eats like a horse.

My brother just turned 19 and he eats like a freakin horse. I am talking two large pizzas in one sitting. It does not even phase him. I can not believe how much he can put away. When I was a teenager I could eat maybe 4 pieces of pizza at a meal. And I was so stuffed I could hardly move.

I remember when I was a teen for about two years I could manage going to BK and getting the Large meal they had, then after that it just tapered off. Maybe its a spurt we all go through?

My mother in law has 4 boys. When they were teenagers, they ate everything in sight. Milk consumption is amazing. Each could down a gallon a day if allowed. Everything in sight was fair game. Most teens like junk food and fast food. It doessn't mean they won't eat healthy though.

I think the best is to wait until he's there and take him with you the first time to show you his likes and dislikes. Then work around that.
