My son is playing with markers and I leave the room for maybe a minute and when I come back he is covered in ink and so is part of our wall. I thought it was very funny, but also it was bad becuase I had to clean it up and punish the little guy.

I think all kids go through that phase. It's before they've ever really been told that it's not okay to write on the walls. Sometimes common sense things aren't common sense to a small child. They really don't know something is wrong until somebody tells them, and the subject usually doesn't come up until they've already done something bad.
Haven't had that experience yet. We won't punish my child too severe unless it is all over the place. I will keep a watchful eye on him ;).

Mine did the same thing. When I was a kid, I had just crayons, but now there's markers that are non-toxic, washable and, fruity and tasty! They even have ones that have glitter in them and that is where (excuse the pun!) I would draw the line. Glitter can get in the eyes and case trouble.

What happened to just old fashioned Crayola Fat Markers? I remember those, then suddenly seeing Skinny Markers, and it just went down from there.

Your right. The fat markers were cool. Fat pencils aren't around much either. I thought that big round things were easier to hold when a child was in school; when they were leaning how to write.
