I was reading the other day that putting your child on a gluten free diet can be good for treating autism. I've never heard such a thing and surely it couldn't be easy to implement. Is there any truth to this?

I'm not sure if there is treatment for autism but the gluten free diet will help with the child with this condition have a healthy body. There is no cure for autism but we can do everything to make their life better, even through diet.

My middle child has mild (thank goodness) autism. She was showing signs of being autistic while she was still totally breastfed, so for her at least, gluten wasn't the problem.
Autism is a complex disease and not much is really known about it. I found that for my daughter all junk food would make her more difficult to handle. I think a healthy diet is a must for autistic children.

I used to work as a substitute teacher aide with special needs students. I have known of a few parents who tried this with their autistic children and they seemd to have luck with it. Those parents said their children were calmer and more focused while on this type of diet. So, I would say it might be worth checking into.
