As you may know, I am a grandmother. My two sons with children somewhat far away from me, not because I am mean, but because of their jobs. My eldest lives in Kansas City, MO, and my second eldest in Effingham, IL, which is about 2 hours away from where I live in Springfield, Illinois. It is really hard being away, and when they first had children, I was afraid that they wouldn't remember me at all. So everytime I visit, I would find a special craft that we could do, grandmother to grandchild. I have done several things, although my favorite is buying a little clay pot, and painting it red and dobbing it with a black dot brush to make Ladybug print. It was really fun. It has become a tradition that everytime I see my grandchildren, I do something fun with them. I love it a lot :).

Awwwwwwwww Lori that is so sweet.
4 of my grand kids live out of State and I don't travel much. I send silly cards and gifts. My son is such a honey, he reminds the kids of me daily so they won't forget who I am.

That is great! I am glad you have children like that. It is always comforting to know you have Grandma's love.
I think it's great the way you've found to interact with your grandchildren through crafts. They'll always remember that and look forward to it. It's a great way to bond with them, especially when you don't get to see them very often.

With all the techie stuff out there now I think short videos of granny to the grand kids would be an awesome idea. In fact I'm going to give it a try. My son sure would be tickeled to know I can use a cam. LOL

One of the ways that my grandmother in New York kept in touch with me was through old fashioned letter writing. It taught me to read and write. She would send me jokes and riddles and I had to answer her back. Fond memories and when I went to visit her we would go over the letters together
