I heard many women in my town complain about the lack of actual hospital care when they were due to give birth. Abusing nurses who'd even curse and mock at them, problems with the doctors etc.

How was your experience in this? Was the hospital care excellent? Was anything you didn't like?

Well when I had my first one 35 yrs ago the experience was not good. The nurses and drs were not mean or anything things were just different back then. The other 3 babies born in the late 80's to mid 90's was a totally difference experience. It was great can't complain about anything except the last time I had an epidural and it was not in correctly and it dripped out instead of in and I lost the effects of it at 7 cetimeters.

My experiences weren't great either but they were 29 and 27 years ago. Our daughter just had a baby seven months ago, and it was ''ok'''. Does anyone EVER take good care of our babies? ha ha....I think though you have to be assertavie, without being demanding (unless necessary). And hopefully you will have your husband, or mama there to 'make sure' you are getting proper care. If not remember it's your body and your baby....

I had a relatively good experience. The nurses were kind and caring in general. There was one day though that I had lunch late and when they were serving dinner they forgot to serve me and even though I called and the nurses called I didn't get any dinner. That was awful but I was okay generally.

I had a pretty terrible experience with my first child. The floor of the room was filthy! The nurse was cranky and my doctor didn't make it until after the baby was born. I could write a novel about everything that was wrong!

I had the second one at home with a midwife and it was a much different experience! For one, I knew the house was clean!

I had a bad time, I was induced with oxytocin at midnight and I didn't want pain relief. The midwife forced me to have gas and air, at 6am and when i threw it at her forced me into having the epidural, I wanted to lie at 45 degrees on my back, she forced me to sit at 80 degrees on my side, i wanted a drink, she wouldnt let me have one, i wanted the toilet she watched me use a bedpan, when i cried from lack of sleep, she thought i was crying in pain and told me "its not that bad go to sleep" when i did fall asleep, she started yapping on non stop. I was pleased as punch when she got off shift and another midwife attended me, she was the nicest girl you could meet, she was there for me when after 12 hours of labour i was taken for an emergency c section, her attitude was totally different to that of the first midwife. lol i swear down now if i wasnt hooked up to that drip i'd have leapt off the bed and slapped her  it doesnt put me off having another one though
