We keep the monitor right next to the bed, so I should be waking up and doing my part when my boy cries at night. But I'm a sound sleeper, and I just don't hear him. His momma gets up every time. I can tell she's not happy with me, but I don't know what to do. How can I make myself wake up?

Have your wife give you a good poke! That should wake you up! LOL Sure worked for me and my hubby.

Have you got the volume turned all the way up? Maybe you should look into a different monitor, maybe you can find one that might be louder than the one you have. Your wife will probably star pushing you off the bed if you don't start doing your part soon.

Hook up an additional monitor. If one doesn't do it, maybe hearing it in stereo may be just what it takes to get you out of that bed.

I was a sound sleeper too, but somewhere along the way my internal ear finally kicked in and it seemed to always be on. Problem is now, I can't seem to turn it off! I hear every little thing...even when the cat breaks wind....lol

Things become a habit after awhile. Sleep with a light on next to your bed with the monitor. The light doesn't let you slip into the deep sleep. When you hear anything on the monitor it makes it easier to wake up.

I didn't have a baby monitor. I don't feel that the baby needs to be checked up on every night if he cries. It shouldn't be that bad.

Maybe you could get a new baby moniter that is louder, so you would wake up. I think they make extra loud baby moniters.

The extra loud baby monitor sounds like good idea, go for it.
I didn't wake up right away either, but I feel it is not always important. There are sometimes when I feel he should be left alone and cry himself to sleep.
