As part of the research and planning phase of us having kids we were discussing our family history when it comes to having kids. Both of our mothers had miscarriages, as has his sister. I know my family also has a history of twins and triplets, which should be set for my generation as it normally skips every other. I'm really quite concerned about conceiving twins or triplets and possibly miscarrying them. Losing one child would be devastating, but losing more than one would be just awful. Does anyone know if miscarriage is hereditary or not? I'm sure its an environmental thing and case by case to a degree, but would my chances increase because of family history?
"If there is a family history of miscarriage, it does not necessarily mean that your risk for miscarriage is increased. The condition of “recurrent miscarriage” or habitual abortion” is rarely hereditary."
I had worried about this too when I was first pregnant, my son is bright and healthy, but about a year or so before he was born, I had a miscarriage. No one in my family knew what to stay to try and help ease my pain but they were quite informative in helping me to research more online about this. My grandmother had one, and my aunt as well, so we had idea idea what was going on in our genes. Thankfully my son was born healthy, all toes and fingers accounted for. :) I still do worry though, but I am really good at that to start with too.

There are certain things that might lower your risks. For one, taking folic acid can reduce the risk of lose to things like neural tube defects. Maintaining good health across the board for yourself is about the best thing you could do.
