Well I do admit to having problems here. I have two grandbabies from two children.

My daughter has a 3 year old and lives with the father of that child, but they are not in a romantic relationship. The father has a girlfriend and his own room. I think he still loves her. She rolls her eyes at me. She refuses to spank her son, and basically makes it sound like I was the worst mother ever for spanking her.

My son has a baby that is not quite a month old and I do not even believe it is his. The circumstances are so suspicious. He refuses to do blood testing. Both my children are unwed. At least my son is still with the mother of his child even though I don't think he should be.

My daughter always yells at me for trying to push my son around and says I just make them (my son and his girlfriend who she gets along with very well) angry and defiant. The more I talk the less they listen to me.

How do you just shut up and back off while you watch your babies mess up your grandbabies?

lol, I can totally see my own mother posting a lot of that. Although, she really doesn't see things the way I do, and her perception of many things is colored by the past and she doesn't let go. I'm not saying that's what's up in your case by any means.

It's good that you are trying though. I wish you the best of luck.

I do not think you can really "shut up" and let things happen. I know we all need to let our children make mistakes, but when it comes to the wellbeing of a child's best interest, someone needs to step forward. The house that I grew up in, we were always told to speak our mind. I do that all the time, with my children, their friends, and soon to be my grandson. There is no reason why if you have sometime that is legitimate to state and will help in the end, don't keep it zipped!
