We recently ordered the large dollhouse by Melissa and Doug-not the Victorian one, just the simple one.

We were in love with it from the start. Wonderfully simple design, easy to assemble and the furniture that comes with it is ample for the house size and nice and safe for a little one.

Really good early dollhouse.

I love Melissa and Doug toys. What age would you say really enjoys this? Maybe it'd be good for my 3 year old come Christmas: we should actually have our own house then and will have enough room for a large doll house!

I have always been a fan of doll houses. I watched one of those remodel you own home shows and they converted a little girls bedroom into a life size doll house - very cute!

I really think it's perfect for a three year old. The house is so simple that it's great for working their imagination. The whole thing isn't done for them, it doesn't restrict play in the way that a period decorated house might.
