View Full Version : Midnight Snacks

My daughter is waking up at night-12-1am ish. She asks to eat, and honestly I can hear her tummy rumbling from across the room.
I hate that it's breaking her sleep yet feeding her right before bed isn't helping. Any suggestions for meals that stick would be appreciated.

She's still pretty young right? I wouldn't be surprised. Her stomach is small and it gets empty fast. I'd just have something ready for if she wakes up, some crackers or cheese, something small, and let her have it if she needs it.
You can try giving her something substantial before bed, I try to feed my kids some warm cereal before bed and that normally holds him until until in the morning.

They always tell you that midnight snacks are supposed to be unhealthy for parents and children alike, so I would just make sure your kids ate enough before they go to bed.
This can be a bit tricky at times, I admit :(
Best of luck though, and let me know if you can get this worked out!

Bad for you or not, she is fed right before bed, and has a growling tummy by midnight. Could YOU sleep when you feel like that?
I certainly couldn't.

Speaking for myself, I have been known to sneak some midnight snacks on a rather regular basis, and it was the same when I was a kid for that matter. While I don't know the exact cause or answer, I can tell you how common it is!

I think as long as good dental hygiene is followed after the snack then really it isn't a problem. The kid is not overweight-far from it. So I see no harm in it at this point.
My youngest kid still does that sometimes, she's barely 3. When she wakes up hungry in the middle of the night, I usually give her a couple of crackers and then she's ready to go back to bed.
