I have been breastfeeding for 3.5 years now, and have never had one before, didn't even know what it was until I had a clogged duct and I was looking on kellymom's site at causes of clogged ducts, and realized that is what this little bump on my nipple was. Has anyone had one, and should I lance it?

If blisters are persistent, they may need to be opened by your health care provider. Do not puncture blisters yourself -- this could lead to an infection. Milk blisters are very painful! They usually develop on the upper areola and are thought to be caused by a plug of thickened milk, which then seals over and becomes inflamed. They can remain from several days to several weeks, healing on their own by peeling away the outer layer of skin.
