View Full Version : Miscarriage Due To Singing

I want to verify if this is true. My mother told me that her first baby would not be me if she did not joined the group singing Christmas carols in 1981. She said that her miscarriage is due to her singing every night and that she was stressed out. Could this be true or is there another reason for this?

It would take a lot of stress to have a miscarriage. And I've never heard of singing to be a cause. Usually singing relaxes people. I'd say it was probably something else that caused the miscarriage and the only thing she could blame was singing.

While extreme stress can cause the body to miscarry, most miscarriages occur because there was something developmentally wrong with the foetus or for no reason at all. It's highly unlikely that the stress of a carolling group would cause a miscarriage.

I agree that this seems highly infeasible. There are many things that can cause a miscarriage, but women go through such high levels of stress at times and still come out of it ok at the end that something as minor as carolling seems unlikely.

I would say it was the stress from the singing and other aspects of her life that caused her to miscarry, not the coral singing.

Thanks for your reply. Now I know that it was not purely her singing that was the cause of the miscarriage. So is emotional stress be a good reason for a miscarriage?

Anyway, what are the reasons for a miscarriage?
